Meditative State via Flowing

For me I’ve always been more artistic; I would draw, color, paint, and even write poems at an early age. Knowing that art came more easily for me than others was something I mad e myself proud, and keeping practice at the things I loved doing made me even mor e confident i n my abilities to take on the world. I lov e watching things or people grow, and especially love watching hand-painted sunsets that spread across the sky in a whirl of cotton candy colors . Inspiration for me, is always the upper hand because I can not only think outside the box and different about various issues, but I can also think empathetically about how something or some one can feel about it.   I love flowing, my escape almost every other day is attaining practice and flow state with my whip. It brings me a lot of joy to hold it in my hand creating art with my body. In the beginning thou gh, I was insecure about how I looked. Always keeping an eye out for anyone watching me at shows and making mistak...

MMIWP: Remember who we are meant to be

Do you ever wonder where you might be, or where your life might go if racism wasn't around? Well, I know a lot of people that do. And for those that don't, I urge you to look inside yourself, and see who you could be... that is who you're meant to be. The life and pleasures that we are so inclined to, and take advantage of daily are things you and I can help others achieve. If we use our creativity to beat the odds, we can do anything. Did you know that, according to the National Institute of Justice, there is in short, "no reliable count of how many Native American go missing or are killed each year." In short, meaning, a lot of Native women are killed per year, and there is no understanding as to how many. I don't know about you, but sounds like a load of malarky. In addition, almost half of American Indian and Native Alaskan women said they experienced violence, including, 14.4% of those women saying that they experienced sexual violence (within that categ...

A Message to Racism

Going into 2021, is something none of us were prepared for. First COVID, then death- a  lot of it, and then getting out of our 2021 hangover into the end of the year at present date. We  have heard it all, from Black Lives Matter movement to discrimination across the nation on a  very politically polar level. To dive more into that discrimination, I would like to generally  express some feelings towards racism. I mean let’s begin with the origination of slavery, to present day slavery. Our local  farmers feel the governments’ wrath, they fail to deliver reverence to our African American farmers they fail to repay the community for the racist man's past of treating said community. This is something that I hold very dear to my heart. I feel that the community who was hurt the most is and always will be the one cause I will seek Justice for. I think the most valuable thing a  person can offer to this community is an ear. It does not matter that you cannot un...

PR History of the War on Drugs by Sadie Kiefer

Since before time began, we have had governments stepping in to do what is necessary to keep everyone safe, but with added information, we have discovered that what was then, “Reefer Madness,” is now something people are using daily in their lives. The PR campaign behind the war on drugs can be very misleading and throughout this research, I will go over how the campaign was used to target minorities and especially people of color.      Since the 1960’s there has been a so-called “war on drugs” that brings to light the misleading information, we’ve been told over the years. Something that had little research and evidence that marijuana makes you do crazy things, such as, said during this time, jumping out of buildings and committing suicide. Now we all know that this campaign had its’ flaws, but targeting minorities, to scare future generations is a scare tactic that provides that you have an audience who, when willing to head advice, may become invoked with fear, theref...
